Accessibility

This site should work for everyone, including members using assistive technology.

Our commitment

A large share of our members are disabled veterans. Accessibility is not a compliance exercise here; it is the difference between the site working and not working for the people it exists to serve.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

What we have built in

  • Semantic headings and landmarks, so screen readers can navigate by structure
  • A skip link to the main content on every page
  • Visible keyboard focus on every interactive element
  • Full keyboard operation of the menu, the pathway matrix tabs and the accordions
  • Colour contrast checked against AA thresholds for body and interface text
  • Text that reflows and remains readable at 200% zoom and on small screens
  • Reduced-motion preference respected — animation is disabled when your system asks for it
  • Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images, and decorative images hidden from assistive technology

Known limitations

Some third-party content we link to, including provider sites and external documents, is outside our control and may not meet the same standard. Where we know of a barrier we will say so next to the link.

Report a barrier

If something on this site blocks you, tell us and we will fix it. Describe the page, what you were trying to do and the assistive technology you use. Use the contact form or email info@defendxacademy.org.

We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within two business days and to offer the information in another format while a fix is in progress.
