About DefendX Academy
We exist because the gap between military technical experience and civilian technical employment is made of paperwork, not ability.
Mission
Remove the paperwork gap
A service member who has spent six years administering classified networks is, on paper, unqualified for a help desk role the day after separation. The skill is real. The credential is missing. That is the whole problem, and it is solvable.
DefendX Academy exists to close that gap in the shortest honest path: identify the certification that matches the job, find the funding that already exists, prepare properly, and sit the exam.
We are not a training provider and we do not issue certifications. We are the map, the discount and the study group.
Vision
Nobody leaves service under-credentialed
Every transitioning service member should walk out of their final formation holding at least one industry certification that a civilian employer recognises without explanation.
Three Routes. One Mission. A Career in Cybersecurity.
Where you start your journey may be different, but the destination can be the same. DefendX Academy helps service members, veterans, reservists, and organizations navigate the path to recognized IT and cybersecurity credentials with practical resources, trusted learning pathways, and career-focused guidance.
Principles
Four things we hold to
Say what is real
Pending features are labelled pending. Estimates are labelled estimates. Nothing on this site claims to be finished when it is not.
Free where it matters
The pathway guides, the 8140 matrix and the provider directories stay free. Membership funds them; it does not gate them.
Funding first
Before recommending a course we check whether a benefit already covers it. Most people leave money unclaimed.
Military literacy
We read MOS, AFSC, NEC and rating codes without needing them explained. That should not be remarkable, but it is.
